Terms of Service

Effective 2026-08-24 · WhyHot (operated by an individual)

1. Acceptance

These terms govern your use of the WhyHot website and mobile app (the "Service"), operated by an individual (the "Operator"). By using the Service you agree to these terms.

2. What the Service does

The Service collects trending search terms and topic rankings that search services and news sites publish, and merges them into a single ranking. The Operator does not redistribute the original works; only rankings, topics, headlines, and links to the original articles are shown.

The Service also provides an AI-generated summary explaining why each topic is trending. Summaries are produced through Google's Gemini API, based on public information the AI finds on the web at the time of generation.

3. Accuracy

Information shown by the Service is derived from data published by other sites. The Operator does not warrant that it is accurate, complete, or current. Some information may be unavailable if a source changes or discontinues its service. AI summaries are covered by Section 4.

4. AI-generated content

Text shown under "What happened? AI explains" is generated by AI. It is not written by the Operator, and the Operator has not verified it.

AI can produce statements that are not true. Summaries are a starting point, not a source of record. Before relying on one for anything that matters, read the related articles shown alongside it. The Operator does not warrant the accuracy or completeness of AI summaries and is not liable for losses arising from reliance on them.

If an AI summary contains an error, tell us at the address below and we will correct or remove it.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

The Operator may restrict access without prior notice if any of the above occurs.

6. Changes and interruptions

The Operator may change or discontinue the Service. Material changes will be announced within the Service. Because the Service is provided free of charge, the Operator is not liable for losses arising from changes or interruptions, except where the law provides otherwise.

7. Intellectual property

Rights in the selection, arrangement, and design of the Service belong to the Operator. Rights in the underlying data collected from each source belong to the respective companies. AI summaries are generated and published by the Operator to provide the Service; rights in the articles they are based on belong to the respective publishers.

8. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law. The Operator is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

9. Advertising

The Service displays advertising provided by Google to cover operating costs. For how information is handled in connection with advertising, see the Privacy Policy.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, where the Operator is located, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. This does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer-protection laws of the place where you live.
